He is making a number one starter's money. I think Zambrano will be a better than average pitcher, however I see him more as a number two starter at best. To me, to be a number one starter you have to have the stuff and know how to use it, and when you don't have your best, you come up with something to keep your team in the game. I think right now, Zambrano is doing it all with his ability and not with his head. Time will tell if he starts using his head.

Couldn't agree with you more Kevin:
Big Z is only 26, which means he is just reaching the start of his physical peak...now if he can just continue to control those mental lapses, he's good for 20 wins for the next 4 to 5 years at least.
Not only is Zambrano an ace, but he is just as good as a utility player! What other pitcher could comfortably step in as a pinch-hitter late in the game and get a base-hit or go yard? Plus, if you look at the pool of free agent starters available at the end of the season, they are mostly older guys who have seen one to many operating rooms and are not as versatile as Zambrano, my Pizano (who is only 26)!
Zambrano worth the money?

Big Z is a head case and you can always count on him to flake out when everything is on the line. The guy is overrated and overpaid.
he may be a head case, but
he may be a head case, but when his stuff is working, which it should for a long time because he is young, hes one of the best in baseball.
